Flinders Street Railway Station is distinguished by its golden-yellow sandstone facade, its prominent green copper dome, and the row of analog clocks mounted above the main entrance. Opened on September twelfth, eighteen fifty-four, as the Melbourne Terminus, it began as a collection of modest weatherboard sheds. The current Edwardian Baroque structure was completed in nineteen ten following a design competition won by railway employees James Fawcett and H.P.C. Ashworth.
