The Hosmer House is identified by its prominent facade of red sandstone, accented with elaborate stone carvings like garlands and scrolls. Completed in nineteen oh one for the self-made financier Charles Hosmer, the mansion was designed by architects Edward and William Maxwell in a French Beaux-Arts style. It sits within what was once the Golden Square Mile, a neighborhood where wealthy business leaders built grand homes during the turn of the twentieth century.
