Lady Meredith House is recognizable by its red brick, sandstone, and terra cotta facade, accented by towers and a black slate roof. Completed in eighteen ninety-seven, the mansion sits on the slopes of Mount Royal in the historic Golden Square Mile. Originally named Ardvarna, the house was a wedding gift from shipping magnate Andrew Allan to his daughter, Isabella Brenda Allan, and her husband, Sir Vincent Meredith, who later served as president of the Bank of Montreal.
