Le Mount Stephen is easily identified by its grand Italian Renaissance facade, constructed of sculpted grey limestone that contrasts with a sleek, modern glass tower rising behind it. This historic site, located at fourteen-forty Drummond Street, was built between eighteen eighty and eighteen eighty-three as the private residence of George Stephen, a Scottish immigrant who became the first president of the Canadian Pacific Railway and a central figure in Montreal’s financial establishment.
