The Gate of Chinatown at the intersection of Saint-Laurent Boulevard and René-Lévesque Boulevard is a traditional Chinese paifang. It marks the northern entrance to one of North America's oldest Asian communities. This structure is one of four such decorative gates that frame the historic neighborhood, defining the boundaries of a district that took root in the eighteen nineties.
