Place Jacques-Cartier

Place Jacques-Cartier is a wide, sloped street that runs downhill from Montreal City Hall toward the waterfront. You can identify the space by its steep incline and the tall, columned monument that anchors its upper end. Once the site of the eighteenth-century Château Vaudreuil, the ground became a public square after the chateau burned to the ground in eighteen oh three.
