Clock Tower

The Montreal Clock Tower is a forty-five-meter-tall white Beaux-Arts structure that rises prominently at the entrance to the Old Port. Designed by engineer Paul Leclaire and built between nineteen nineteen and nineteen twenty-two, the tower serves as a memorial to the merchant sailors who perished during the First World War. Its mechanism, crafted by the English firm Gillett and Johnston, shares the same technical design as the clock inside London’s Big Ben.
