Square Saint-Louis

Square Saint-Louis is defined by the rows of ornate, greystone Victorian houses that frame its perimeter. These homes, with their intricate ironwork and mansard roofs, create a dense, residential backdrop for the park. The square itself was laid out in eighteen seventy-six on land that originally served as a city reservoir. Once the reservoir was drained and replaced by the McTavish facility following the Great Fire of eighteen fifty-two, the city repurposed the vacant lot into this public space.
