Plaza de Bolívar

Plaza de Bolívar is a shaded urban park at the center of the walled historic district of Cartagena de Indias. You can identify the square by the dense canopy of large trees and the bronze equestrian statue of Simón Bolívar, which has occupied the center of the plaza since eighteen ninety-six. The sculpture was modeled in Munich by the Venezuelan artist Eloy Palacios and stands on a granite pedestal brought from Finland.
