The Heredia Theatre is recognizable by its pastel-hued facade and its prominent location on the Plaza de la Merced. Built in nineteen eleven to commemorate the first centenary of Colombia’s independence, the structure occupies the site of a seventeenth-century church. Architect Luis Felipe Jaspe designed the venue, drawing inspiration from the Teatro Tacon in Havana to create a space that blends neoclassical and baroque styles.
