Plaza de San Diego

Plaza de San Diego sits in the northern reaches of the walled city of Cartagena. You can pick it out by the palm trees that shade the square and the rows of restaurant tables that spill onto the cobblestones, particularly once the sun goes down. Before it became a place for evening dining, the ground beneath these tables belonged to the governor of the city in the fifteen seventies, who used the space as an orchard filled with fruit trees.
