The Baluarte de San Ignacio, formerly known as the Baluarte de los Moros, is a stone bastion featuring a cylindrical sentry box that overlooks the Bay of Las Ánimas. Originally constructed by the sixteen thirties under the direction of military engineers like Cristóbal de Roda, this fortification was designed to protect the city’s southern flank from naval attacks.
