Marjan viewpoint

Marjan is a pine-forested peninsula that rises directly from the western edge of Split, distinguished by its dense blanket of Aleppo pines and a network of trails that climb toward its highest summit, Telegrin. This hill has functioned as a municipal forest since the thirteenth century, when the city of Split began protecting the area with strict laws against cutting down its trees. Emperor Diocletian first set aside parts of this land for recreation in the third century, and today, it remains a protected forest park.
