The Hôtel du Nord is identified by the blue mosaic tiles on its façade that spell out its name in a simple, recognizable script. Sitting along the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin, this building served as the inspiration for the nineteen twenty-nine novel by Eugène Dabit, the son of the hotel's original owners. While it once functioned as a modest hotel for sailors and laborers, it is known today as a restaurant that maintains the aesthetic of a nineteen thirties Parisian bistro.
