The Pont Charles-de-Gaulle is unmistakable for its sleek, white steel deck that curves across the Seine in the shape of a giant aircraft wing. Completed in nineteen ninety-six, it is the most recent roadway bridge built in Paris. Its design was selected through a competition to create a modern structure that could link the Gare de Lyon to the Gare d’Austerlitz and connect the emerging François Mitterrand Library district to the Bercy area.
