Trompe-l'œil - Le renard de Bordalo II

landmark

The relief mural of a fox in the thirteenth arrondissement of Paris is constructed entirely from salvaged waste, including plastic fragments, twisted metal, and discarded consumer objects. Created by the Portuguese artist Artur Bordalo, known as Bordalo II, the work transforms literal refuse into a three-dimensional portrait of an animal. From a distance, the mural appears as a flattened image, but as the viewer moves closer or changes their perspective, the jagged, layered components of the sculpture emerge to reveal the textures of the trash used to build it.
