The Théâtre de la Gaîté-Montparnasse sits at twenty-six rue de la Gaîté with a red façade that makes it stand out on the street. It opened in eighteen sixty-eight, built by a limonadier named François Jamin who used salvaged materials from a theater demolished after the eighteen sixty-seven Universal Exhibition.
