Le M. Musée du Vin is defined by its deep, vaulted stone cellars that date back to the fifteenth century. These subterranean galleries, carved directly into the limestone of the Passy hill, originally provided the material used to construct monuments across Paris. Once the stone was extracted, the cool, damp chambers became ideal storage for the monks of the Order of Minims, who established a monastery nearby and tended vineyards on the surrounding slopes.
