The statue of Pedro Juan Caballero stands on the Place du Paraguay in the sixteenth arrondissement. It is a bust honoring the man who was a military leader and a primary figure in the movement that brought independence to Paraguay on May fourteenth, eighteen eleven. An inscription on the base identifies him as the liberator of the country.
