Near the Porte Maillot, the modern silhouette of the Palais des Congrès rises where a sprawling landscape of rides and spectacle once stood. From nineteen oh nine until the nineteen thirties, this site held Paris’s most prominent amusement park, Luna Park. It brought the spirit of American-style fairs to the city, featuring a scenic railway, a shoot-the-chutes water ride, and a massive dance hall that became a hub for the popular music of the day.
