Aura Invalides (entrée place Vauban)

historic

The Dôme des Invalides rises above the seventh arrondissement with a gilded roof that catches the light from every angle. This structure, inaugurated in seventeen oh six under Louis the Fourteenth, was designed by architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. Since eighteen sixty-one, the space beneath the high cupola has served as the final resting place for Napoleon the First, whose red quartzite tomb sits in a deep, open-air crypt.
