Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin, Paris

The church of Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin stands in the seventh arrondissement, identifiable by its classical facade with two tiers of columns, where the lower level features the Doric order and the upper level features the Ionic. Begun in sixteen eighty-two under the architect Pierre Bullet, the structure was originally the chapel for a Dominican novitiate. It was initially named Saint-Dominique, but it was rededicated to the theologian Thomas Aquinas following the French Revolution.
