Square Montholon is defined by its ornate, Louis Philippe-style cast-iron fencing and its pair of massive, century-old oriental plane trees. Established in eighteen sixty-three during the Haussmann-led renovation of Paris, the garden occupies four thousand five hundred seventy-one square meters of space. It was created at the same time as the surrounding Rue Lafayette, serving as a pocket of greenery within the dense layout of the ninth arrondissement.
