Fontaine des Quatre-Saisons

The Fontaine des Quatre-Saisons is a massive, palace-like stone façade stretching along the rue de Grenelle, standing roughly ten meters high and twenty meters long. Completed in seventeen forty-five, the structure was the most ambitious of thirty public water projects ordered during the reign of King Louis the Fifteenth. Royal sculptor Edme Bouchardon spent six years crafting its elaborate relief work, which features a central seated figure of Paris flanked by allegories of the Seine and Marne rivers.
