Hôtel de Villeroy (Paris, 7th arrondissement)

The Hôtel de Villeroy at seventy-eight rue de Varenne is a grand eighteenth-century townhouse distinguished by its iron-wrought staircase railing, which features the elegantly interlaced letters of the Villeroy family. Built between seventeen thirteen and seventeen twenty-four by architect François Debias-Aubry, the residence was commissioned by the Swiss banker Antoine Hogguer for his mistress, the famous Comédie-Française actress Charlotte Desmares.
