Pentemont Abbey

Pentemont Abbey is a complex of eighteenth and nineteenth-century stone buildings situated at the corner of Rue de Grenelle and Rue de Bellechasse. Originally a Cistercian community founded near Beauvais in twelve seventeen, the abbey relocated to this Parisian site in sixteen seventy-two by royal order of King Louis the Fourteenth. The current structures were largely reconstructed by the architect Pierre Contant d'Ivry beginning in seventeen forty-five.
