Église Saint-Médard

The Église Saint-Médard is recognizable by its expansive, flamboyant Gothic nave and a chancel featuring a rare wooden vaulted ceiling, the only one of its kind in Paris. Located at the southern end of the Rue Mouffetard, this site traces its origins back to a seventh-century oratory built where an ancient Roman road crossed the Bièvre River. The present structure took shape between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries, incorporating Gothic, Renaissance, and classical architectural elements as it grew alongside the neighborhood.
