Chez Moune

Chez Moune is recognizable by its black facade finished with a gold-edged border. Located at fifty-four rue Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, this building houses a space that began in nineteen thirty-six as the first cabaret in Europe designed for an exclusively female clientele. Its founder, Monique Carton—known to everyone as Madame Moune—established the venue to provide a sanctuary for women in a district otherwise dominated by brothels and clubs serving men.
