The Villa Masséna is a Neoclassical mansion on the Promenade des Anglais, defined by its crisp, white facade and the orderly, manicured gardens that sit between the villa and the sea. Built between eighteen ninety-eight and nineteen oh one by the Danish architect Hans-Georg Tersling, it was designed as a grand winter residence for Victor Masséna, a prince who carried the legacy of his grandfather, the famous Napoleonic general André Masséna.
