Maison Auer is a confectionary shop identifiable by its nineteenth-century storefront located directly across from the Nice Opera House. Established in eighteen twenty by a Swiss confectioner named Henri Auer, the business moved to its current site around eighteen fifty to capitalize on the affluent tourists and opera-goers who frequented the area. The shop maintains a distinctive interior featuring gilded cabinetry, marble counters, and chandeliers, which served as a refined backdrop for the shop's specialty: candied Mediterranean fruits.
