The archaeological excavations on the Colline du Château contain the foundations of the city’s heart before it was leveled. This site holds medieval history that remained hidden for centuries under layers of earth until systematic research began in two thousand nine. The remains include a cathedral, first established between the fifth and sixth centuries, alongside a cloister and a cemetery that served the fortified hill town.
