The Église Notre-Dame du Port de Nice is identifiable by its prominent white neoclassical façade facing the sea, which features four large Ionic columns and a pediment topped with a statue of the Virgin Mary. Located on the Place de l’Île de Beauté, this church was commissioned by King Charles-Félix of Sardinia in eighteen thirty to serve the growing port district. Architect Joseph Vernier designed the structure, though its construction faced immediate physical hurdles.
