Nice Synagogue

religious

The Great Synagogue of Nice stands on rue Gustave Deloye, identifiable by a neo-Byzantine stone façade that rises to a pyramid-shaped top. Crowning this peak are the Tablets of the Law, positioned above a central rose window. This building was inaugurated in eighteen eighty-six to replace an earlier, smaller prayer space in the city's old ghetto. Engineer Paul Martin designed the structure, which now holds a status as a historic monument.
