Kihinkan Hall

Kihinkan Hall is identifiable by the octagonal tower protruding from its side and an exterior finish of mortar that mimics the appearance of cut stone. This two-story wooden structure, designed by the prefectural engineer Eizaburo Sanjo, was completed in nineteen ten as an honorary guest house for the thirteenth Kyushu and Okinawa Product Exhibition. Its architecture draws on the French Renaissance style, which was highly unusual for public buildings in Japan during the late Meiji period.
