New Bird Skatepark

The New Bird Skatepark is a DIY concrete landscape of bowls, banks, and ledges tucked into a lot at the corner of New Bird Street and Jamaica Street. Local skateboarders constructed the park in two thousand ten, carving out transitions and features by hand on what was once a disused industrial plot. The surface is rougher than a standard municipal facility, reflecting the gritty, hands-on labor of those who built and maintained it over the years.
