North Western Hall is defined by its massive stone frontage and fairy-tale turrets that rise above Lime Street. Designed by the architect Alfred Waterhouse and opened in eighteen seventy-one, the building was created as a grand railway hotel for the London and North Western Railway. It served passengers arriving at the adjacent Lime Street Station, boasting three hundred and thirty rooms and a design inspired by medieval French châteaux.
