St Luke’s Bombed Out Church

St Luke’s, known to everyone in the city as the Bombed Out Church, is an open-air stone shell sitting at the corner of Berry Street and Leece Street. Its tall, grey neo-Gothic walls and empty window arches rise without a roof, leaving the interior space exposed to the sky. Originally designed by John Foster Senior and his son, the church was finished in eighteen thirty-two and once hosted ceremonies for the city's municipal corporation.
