Rancho San Miguel (Noé)

Rancho San Miguel once covered one-sixth of the San Francisco peninsula, stretching from the slopes of Mount Sutro toward the present-day county line near Daly City. This expanse of over four thousand acres existed as a Mexican land grant, bestowed in eighteen forty-six by Governor Pío Pico upon José de Jesús Noé, a former alcalde of what was then Yerba Buena. The rancho included the terrain now home to neighborhoods such as the Castro, Noe Valley, Diamond Heights, and Glen Park.
