The former St. Joseph's Hospital is marked by peach-colored stucco walls, pitched tile roofs, and a massive, angled form that appears to emerge directly from the forested slope of Buena Vista Heights. Built in nineteen twenty-eight, this monumental Spanish Renaissance Revival complex was designed by the architectural firm of Bakewell and Brown. It stands as a distinctive presence on the hillside, visible from many vantage points across the city.
