The Montgomery, at seventy-four New Montgomery Street, is a seven-story residential building defined by its Beaux-Arts facade, symmetrical stone detailing, and a decorative metal canopy over its entrance. Completed in nineteen fourteen by the Reid Brothers, the structure was built to house the offices of the San Francisco Call newspaper after the publication lost its previous home in the great fire of nineteen oh six.
