Pier 39 is a two-level waterfront marketplace extending into the San Francisco Bay, built on a structure using reclaimed wood from piers dating back to nineteen ten. Opened on October fourth, nineteen seventy-eight, the complex was developed by entrepreneur Warren Simmons to convert a former cargo and fishing pier into a hub for dining, shopping, and public observation of the harbor.
