Statue of Thomas Starr King (San Francisco)

The bronze statue of Thomas Starr King stands in Golden Gate Park upon a pedestal of pink Missouri granite. Unveiled on October twenty-sixth, eighteen ninety-two, the monument depicts a man who arrived in San Francisco in eighteen sixty to lead the First Unitarian Church. Sculpted by Daniel Chester French, the figure commemorates a preacher whose influence reached far beyond the pulpit during the American Civil War.
