Pier 17

Pier Seventeen is one of the oldest surviving structures along the Embarcadero, built in nineteen twelve. You can identify it by its long, weathered wood-plank exterior that stretches out into the San Francisco Bay, standing immediately adjacent to the Exploratorium at Pier Fifteen. While many of the city’s historic finger piers have been repurposed or demolished, Pier Seventeen remains a prominent example of the industrial maritime architecture that once dominated this waterfront during the early twentieth century.
