Russian Hill Place

Russian Hill Place is a narrow, red-brick alley that branches off from the crest of Vallejo Street. It is defined by a row of four linked Mediterranean-style villas, numbered one, three, five, and seven. These homes, designed by the architect Willis Polk in nineteen sixteen, feature tiled roofs and courtyards that create the atmosphere of a secluded retreat. From the vantage point of Jones Street, these buildings act as a solid western wall that anchors the steep slope of the hill.
