The Marina District Lighthouse is a squat, stone-built tower situated in the parking lot near the St. Francis Yacht Club. Modeled after ancient Roman military watchtowers, it features walls constructed from ornamental stones salvaged from a mansion that once stood at Pacific Avenue and Divisadero Street. The surrounding paving and seawalls were built using cobblestones reclaimed from city streets, while its teak door was fashioned from a gangplank salvaged from the ship Matsonia.
