Memorial to William C. Ralston

The memorial to William C. Ralston sits near the end of Fillmore Street on the Marina Green. It is a marble monument featuring a bronze medallion of Ralston on one side and a life-size bronze relief of a robed female figure on the other. Created by sculptor Haig Patigian and erected in nineteen forty-one, the piece honors a man who arrived in San Francisco as a clerk and became the city’s preeminent banker, founding the Bank of California and building the original Palace Hotel.
