Fort Mason Park

Fort Mason is a headland overlooking the San Francisco Bay, distinguished by a collection of Mission Revival buildings and massive, industrial piers that stretch into the water. This site served as a strategic military outpost for over a century, beginning with Spanish fortifications in seventeen ninety-seven before the United States Army took control in eighteen fifty. It eventually became the San Francisco Port of Embarkation, the primary gateway for millions of troops and millions of tons of cargo heading to the Pacific during the Second World War.
