Heurich House Museum

The Heurich House Museum, also known as the Brewmaster’s Castle, is a rusticated brownstone and red brick mansion built between eighteen ninety-two and eighteen ninety-four. Designed by architect John Granville Meyers in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, the house is distinguished by its heavy masonry and intricate stonework. It was commissioned by German immigrant Christian Heurich, who founded the Christian Heurich Brewing Company, the largest and longest-operating brewery in the District of Columbia.
