The Perry Belmont House rises as a distinctive, triangular pavilion of stone at the corner of New Hampshire Avenue and R Street. Completed in nineteen hundred and nine, the mansion was commissioned by Congressman and diplomat Perry Belmont to host Washington’s elite during the winter social season. Belmont hired French architect Ernest-Paul Sanson to design the residence, which required a complex layout to fit its narrow wedge of land.
