The Larz Anderson House is a fifty-room limestone mansion with an ornate, eclectic exterior that sets it apart from the surrounding neighborhood. Constructed between nineteen oh two and nineteen oh five, the residence was designed by Boston architects Arthur Little and Herbert Browne as a grand winter home for the diplomat Larz Anderson and his wife, Isabel. The couple intended the house to serve as a stage for high society, filling its rooms with art, tapestries, and treasures collected during their international travels.
